Mateo Seré

I am an economist and Postdoctoral Researcher at University College London (UCL), on the 2025/26 economics job market.

My research uses machine learning, text analysis, and causal inference to study topics in political economy and labor economics, with a focus on gender gaps and measurement bias.

My most recent work, forthcoming at the American Economic Review, analyzes gender dynamics in academic seminars.

In my Job Market Paper I study how cultural differences shape the way people translate subjective evaluations into numerical ratings.

I am also a Visiting Fellow at the International Inequalities Institute at the London School of Economics.
